African Numerals Non-Formal Education and Development Programme

In Africa, many people could not attend formal school due to many factors. Some people could not attend school due to extreme poverty, negligence, sickness, divorce, conflict in the community, and distance between school and home or lack of school in the community. Moreover, the rudeness and wickedness of some teachers are contributing to the children dropping out of school. Hunger and lack of basic learning materials for the child are also contributing to the high rate of illiteracy in Africa.

African Numerals Non-Formal Education and Development Programme is addressing the above-mentioned illiteracy menace for community development by identifying illiterate adults, dropped out, and children and teaching them reading, writing, and speaking and later on enrolling some of them in formal schools. We provide teaching and learning materials to our volunteers and the beneficiaries to enable teaching and learning to take place properly in the communities. We are also training the adult ones to take apiculture (beekeeping). People we offer education are trained and guided to set up apiaries in their various communities. We train them on bee hive construction, colony management, honey harvesting, wax rendering, pollen harvesting, propolis harvesting, controlling hive diseases, honey harvesting, harvesting smokers’ construction, protective cloth sewing, and more. This beekeeping programme is empowering the communities financially through the income they earn from selling the excess honey and other bee products. This helps the communities’ livelihoods to be improved significantly.
